Last week in the Manayunk section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources officials helped to dedicate a newly-restored portion on the Schuylkill River Trail. As the PA Environment Digest points out, these 2.2 miles of trail help to connect to Montgomery County.

The importance that the Schuylkill River Trail is playing in the revitalization of the city and the promise of a more sustainable future is undeniable. All of this recognition around the importance of the River is very encouraging. The Schuylkill River provides a significant portion of drinking water to the City. It truly is a source of life to residents. Hopefully, with increased interest in the River, more people will pay even more attention to protecting this vital waterway.
