Case Study:

Riparian Buffer Restoration

Riparian buffers are vegetated areas of native trees and shrubs adjacent to streams, lakes, ponds, and wetlands.

These "streamside buffers" provide a wide variety of environmental “services” like pollution and flood prevention and erosion control, as a result are of great economic value. Just as importantly, they offer recreational opportunities, aesthetic appeal, and wildlife habitat--not to mention carbon sequestration, air quality improvement, and more... The most effective buffers consist of high species density, diversity, and bio-productivity.
