Sustaining Green Infrastructure through Proper Landscape Management

Introduction to Rain Gardens

Introduction to Rain Gardens

Welcome to Maintaining Green Infrastructure Stormwater Systems, a training series created by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society to create a pathway for those interested in pursuing careers in this emerging field.   Each of these presentations can be viewed independently or together as a series.

Rain gardens are easily planned and installed in residential and public spaces, but there are a few basic design concepts that will ensure their success as stormwater management practices. This session will define the critical elements of rain gardens and help with plant selection. It also covers the important maintenance tasks that keep rain gardens functioning.
