Sustaining Green Infrastructure through Proper Landscape Management

Training Module 4: Invasive Plant and Weed Management

Maintaining GSI Systems Four

This is the fourth Module of 5 in the Maintaining Green Infrastructure Stormwater Systems training series, created by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, to create a pathway for those interested in pursuing careers in this emerging field.

Here's where we get into the finer detail of plantings: distinguishing between the plants that we intentionally planted for their resliency and water loving properties and those unwated "invasives" that we need to be on the lookout for. Without regular maintenance, invasives tend to take over -- which can cause the systems to malfunction AND through the ecological balance out of whack.
